I love my India

Diwali break

Posted in Uncategorized by Loren on November 13th, 2007

My students have started to trickle back in from their Diwali breaks, and it’s nice to see where they have been. Some went to their villages and others photographed their family’s Diwali celebrations here in Umarkhed. The majority of my students haven’t shown up yet so I’m hoping that they are still shooting wherever they are.

I find Dipika’s two pictures interesting. The one with all the geometry lines shows the electric wires contrasting against the lines of the windows and even the bricks of the buildings.

Then the photo of the man drinking a glass of something green is very striking. The green really stands out.

Gaju’s photo of the colorful blue sari against the gray building is striking too.

Nitin’s photo of the woman milking is interesting because of the mist or fog that is coming in from behind. It isn’t clear to me what it behind the cow–houses, temple? But the photo conveys a lot of character.
